Islamabad: Ambassadors of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Wednesday called on Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening regional peace, security, and cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides held wide-ranging discussions on matters of mutual interest, including regional and international security dynamics, defence cooperation, and prospects for enhanced engagement between Pakistan and ASEAN member states. The dialogue reflected a shared desire to deepen understanding and collaboration amid evolving regional challenges.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif underscored Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthening its relations with ASEAN countries. He emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperative approaches to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. The Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s full support for ASEAN’s central and constructive role in promoting regional stability, economic growth, and prosperity.
The ASEAN Ambassadors appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive role in regional peace efforts and acknowledged its contributions toward stability and cooperation. They expressed keen interest in expanding collaboration with Pakistan across multiple sectors, including security, defence, and broader regional engagement.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the future, reflecting a mutual commitment to closer Pakistan–ASEAN relations and continued engagement on regional and global issues of common concern.
