Venezuela will not become anyone’s colony, Vice President’s blunt statement on US action

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has reacted strongly to the US action and the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro, saying that Venezuela is fully prepared to defend itself and protect its natural resources and will not become a colony of any country under any circumstances. Addressing the nation, Delcy Rodriguez said that President Nicolas Maduro has been kidnapped and that he is the constitutional president of Venezuela. She appealed to the people to show patience, unity and solidarity to defend the country. The Vice President said that after the US military action, Venezuela will take all possible measures to defend itself and protect national sovereignty. He made it clear that Venezuela will not accept any foreign occupation of its natural resources. Delcy Rodriguez’s statement came at a time when US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States would take over the administration of Venezuela until the transfer of power and that American oil companies would operate in Venezuela. It should be noted that during a press conference in Florida, President Donald Trump announced criminal charges against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and said that Maduro and his wife were being transferred to New York so that they could be brought to justice. Donald Trump added that on his instructions, the US military carried out an extraordinary operation in the Venezuelan capital, in which air, land and sea power were fully demonstrated.
